Carey in an email to Saipan Tribune said she will be moving to Guam next month after placing second to U.S. pro Shonny Vanlandingham in last Saturday's XTERRA Japan Championships held in Marunuma.

(Roselyn B. Monroyo)Saipan pro Mieko Carey will be participating in a training camp in Australia next year to prepare for the 2013 season.

“I will meet my coach Col (Colbert Stewart) in Gold Coast, Australia and join his training camp. I will be back to his place next year to train so I can get stronger and faster in 2013,” said Carey in an email to Saipan Tribune.

Carey will be gunning for her fourth straight XTERRA Japan crown and will have 2010 XTERRA World champion Shonny Vanlandingham as the biggest stumbling block in her bid to extend her reign in the annual competition in Marunuma, Gunma Prefecture.

The Marianas Visitors Authority (MVA) and Rota municipality will host the 19th Annual Rota Blue Triathlon on Nov. 17.

Regional and international triathletes are expected to return for the annual Ironman event that features the pristine, tropical environment and warm island hospitality of the island of Rota. Last year's event was topped by Taro Shirato of Japan, a repeat competitor in the triathlon.

The finishers list includes David Tsukagoshi, Jinnosuke Suzuki, Rintaro Miyawaki, Jinju Thompson, Soleil Lamar, Taiga Sato, Jasmine and Erin Frink, Michail and Michael Villagomez, Taka Borja, Wataru and Akira Kadokura, and Jen-nah Nelson.
