 Former Saipan triathlete Mieko Carey is now on competition mode after besting Korean, Australia, and Japanese runners in a trail run tournament held last Sunday in Niigata, Japan.

The 2012 XTERRA World Championship is one for the books for first-timer Robyn Wondrasek.
“It was an amazing experience and totally worth all of the training and effort. It is something I will never forget,” said Wondrasek, who was among the more than 500 finishers of last Sunday's off-road triathlon event (Monday on Saipan) in Maui, Hawaii, completing the exhausting race in 4:40:44.
